Newquay Cultivate's 1st Under 18's Gig Night starts with a bang as four local bands play at local club the Koola Bar.

On July 25th the Koola bar hosted Newquay's first Under 18's Gig Night, organised, set up and run by Newquay Cultivate, a group of young people supported by the Cultivate project based in and around Newquay. The idea for the band night, which came from the group, was decided upon in their first meeting together at Café Irie last April, a dream that has now successfully been made a reality with the help of the Cultivate project.

All the bands that played at the night were local, up and coming musicians who want to take their music further. The night kicked off with an acoustic set from Last Chance, with their blend of pop and rock, followed by Two Tone Tommy & the Two Fairies, who performed popular songs in a ska/punk style in fairy outfits! Next the tempo was raised by Johnny Ribcage, with an original harder set of metal songs. Last our headline band Breathe, an up and coming rock band finished the night with 40 minutes of original material.

Tom Jefferies, drummer from Two Tone Tommy & the Two Fairies said: "Noize Night was an amazing opportunity for us to play outside of a school setting in a real club, and have the experience of setting up and running our own gig."

Cultivate want the Band Night to happen again, and become a regular night, drawing in more young bands from across the county and Newquay Cultivate are currently in talks with the Koola bar, and some interested music promoters, who can help the night to expand and get bigger.
