In piloting Cultivate, we
have learned that every region, area and community is different and
requires a special approach to help young people get the most out of
where they live. For this reason there is no set cost or delivery
programme for Cultivate – it could combine one or all of the following:
- The full Cultivate programme in one area (we can run up to four areas simultaneously).
- Location specific R and D into the needs ofyoung people and their community.
- A
dedicated Cultivator (often a young person themselves) that can more
fully link youth provision into the community, support young people to
realise their ambitions, and hook them into the programmes,
opportunities and support that are relevant for them.
- Use of the
established Cultivate website andvirtual network, maintained by
Cultivate communities, which links up pockets ofactivity, teaches
valuable IT skills, provides a central point for information sharing and
can drive traffic through to local authority services.
- A way to reconnect communities with their young people and change perceptions as a result.
- A
potential way to engage marginalised young people and a route of
progression for them to get further advice, support and training.
- An opportunity to tackle issues within communities from the heart of that community itself.
- A peer-led approach naturally drawing young people to it.
- A
way to directly link young people in to the many programmes,
organisations and opportunities and initiatives the community and region has to
offer.
