Help Cultivate Cornwall
Friday, 18 January 2008

The Cultivate project got well and truly underway today as a media campaign and search for ‘cultivators’ was launched in the local press.

Running across the West Briton, The Cornish Guardian and The Cornishman, the call to action is aimed at recruiting participants for all the projects in Lostwithiel, Newquay, Wadebridge, Caradon Hill, Bude, Looe and Callington as well as raising general awareness of the Cultivate approach.

Getting communities involved in and excited by their local culture is the focus of Cultivate, helping young people to realise their potential and integrate themselves into their communities and uniting the disparate factions in Southeast Cornwall where interaction is difficult and creative and cultural drive is minimal. “We want to help communities capitalise on the enthusiasm of residents, young and old, in each area, giving them the access to resources and support that they need to make culture happen in their localities, explains Tamzyn Smith, development director for Cultivate.”

“Cultivators in each area will act as mentors for those involved in the project, supporting, motivating and helping to organise them to move their activity forward and enjoy themselves along the way.”
